<Research Report>M Stanley Sees BABA Major Restructuring, CAC Enforcement Rules as Key Signals for CN Completed Regulatory Reset
BABA-SW (09988.HK)(BABA.US)'s corporate restructuring proposal and the "Cyber & Information Department Administrative Enforcement Procedure Regulations" recently released by the China Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission (CAC) to safeguard the legal rights of enterprises and entrepreneurs, suggested that China has completed its regulatory reset and has been stepping up its support for private-run enterprises and platform companies, Morgan Stanley expressed in its China Equity Strategy report.
This should help improve the business environment and thus stimulate efficiency and creativity, which would bode well for Chinese equity markets. Given such promising signals, Morgan Stanley maintained the Overweight view on China within emerging and global equity markets, and forecast the top-down government support to accelerate after the NPC meeting in March. Morgan Stanley maintained the Overweight view on high-quality large-scale platform companies and restated BABA-SW as a major component of its H-share and A-share Focus Lists.
