Hong Kong stocks opened lower in the morning session. The HSI opened 14 points or 0.1% lower at 17,454. The HSCEI opened 5 points or 0.1% lower at 6,189. The HSTECH opened 5 points or 0.2% lower at 3,539.

For techs, BABA-SW (09988.HK), TENCENT (00700.HK) and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) slid 0.1%, while JD-SW (09618.HK) dropped 0.3%. NTES-S (09999.HK) picked up 2.1%, while chip equipment stock ASMPT (00522.HK) descended 6.1% to $107.5 before its decline widened, as its interim net profit fell 49.6% to $315 million. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) opened flat at $118.1, while BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) opened flat at $88.25 and $44.55 each.

For financials, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) added 0.5% to $67.15, while HKEX (00388.HK) and AIA (01299.HK) lost 0.3% and 0.9%. For other blue chips, HENGAN INT'L (01044.HK) and OOIL (00316.HK) advanced 4.8% and 2%, while CHOW TAI FOOK (01929.HK) faded 1.4% after 1FQ25 retail sales value decreased 20% YoY.
