<Research>CICC: Southbound Fund Inflow to BABA-W Tops $16.4B Last Wk, Ranking 1st

In recent week, there has been a continuous inflow of capital from the Southbound Stock Connect, while there has been a continuous outflow of overseas active capital, CICC released a report as saying. Data from EPFR showed that overseas active funds continued to flow out of overseas Chinese stock markets this week, with an outflow of about US$250 million, an increment from the previous week's US$210 million, notching an outflow for 70 consecutive weeks.

Meanwhile, overseas passive capital turned to an outflow of US$100 million (inflow of US$170 million the previous week). Southbound capital continued to flow in this week, in an amount of HK$12.53 billion, more than that from the previous week's inflow of HK$9.27 billion.

It was worth mentioning that BABA-W (09988.HK), which attracted much attention in the market, was officially included in the Southbound Stock Connect last week and was widely favored by Southbound investors. Last week, Southbound funds flowed into BABA-W in an accumulated amount of HK$16.42 billion, ranking first.
