At midday close, the HSI leaped 250 pts or 1.4% to 17,672; the HSCEI gained 87 pts or 1.4% to 6,177; and the HSTECH added 43 pts or 1.2% to 3,540. The prospect of interest rate cuts by the Fed underpinned real estate stocks, with WHARF REIC (01997.HK) and CK ASSET (01113.HK) soaring 5% and 4.4%; NEW WORLD DEV (00017.HK), HENDERSON LAND (00012.HK), HANG LUNG PPT (00101.HK) and SHK PPT (00016.HK) mounting 2.3%-3.1%. Utilities HK & CHINA GAS (00003.HK), POWER ASSETS (00006.HK), HKELECTRIC-SS (02638.HK) and CKI HOLDINGS (01038.HK) rose 1.8%-2.5%. Techs MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) grew 1.7% and 1.9%. BABA-W (09988.HK), TENCENT (00700.HK), XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), JD-SW (09618.HK), BIDU-SW (09888.HK) and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) hiked 0.8%-1.2%. In addition, JD HEALTH (06618.HK), GDS-SW (09698.HK) and ALI HEALTH (00241.HK) spiked 2.9%-3.3%. Chip stock SMIC (00981.HK) and chip equipment stock ASMPT (00522.HK) jumped up more than 2%.
