U.S. DOC Launches Probe to Advance Tariffs on Chips & Drugs

The U.S. government is moving forward with plans to impose tariffs on imports of semiconductors and pharmaceuticals by launching an investigation led by the Department of Commerce (DOC).

The U.S. DOC announced in two notices published in the Federal Register that it will investigate the national security implications of importing semiconductors, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, pharmaceuticals, and drug ingredients, including finished drugs.
