Macau's premium mass wager observed in August increased by 5% YoY to $13.4 million, Citi Research issued a research report saying. The number of premium mass players fell by 5% YoY to 624, meaning the average wager per player rose by 10% YoY to $21,543, marking a double-digit increase for 4 consecutive months, reflecting improved player quality. In terms of high rollers, the broker observed 32 whales during the period, compared to 25 in the same period last year. The highest single-day bet of $450,000 was seen at GALAXY ENT (00027.HK)'s Horizon Room. Moreover, the broker noted that MELCO INT'L DEV (00200.HK) had 6 whales, significantly higher than usual, possibly due to its newly opened Signature Club equipped with non-gaming facilities such as a golf simulator and displays of worn jerseys by NBA all-star players like Yao Ming. Regarding market share, the data shows that GALAXY ENT's premium mass wager accounted for about 34%, continuing to lead the industry, reflecting the attraction of Capella and Eason Chan's concerts to whales. SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK) maintained the second position with approximately 23% share. Citi Research also noted that SANDS CHINA LTD, WYNN MACAU (01128.HK), MGM CHINA (02282.HK) and MELCO INT'L DEV introduced various strategies and new side bets, with most casinos adding the Big/Small 7.
