<H Shrs>HSI Drops 157 Pts at Midday as BABA-W Weakens; SMIC Craters 6%+

The HSI weakened again before noon, and slid 157 points or 0.6% to 25,460 at midday. The HSCEI ebbed 37 points or 0.4% to 9,083. The HSTECH slipped 102 points or 1.8% to 5,695. Total half-day turnover of the market amounted to $183.613 billion. For techs, BABA-W (09988.HK) lost 1.7% to $134.80, with a half-day turnover of $14.2 billion. TENCENT (00700.HK) and XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) faded 0.7% and 0.2% as Tencent Hunyuan released and opened sources for its new translation model. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) waned 3% to $99.9, while BIDU-SW (09888.HK), KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) cascaded 1.8-2.7%. JD-SW (09618.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) also shed over 1%. Furthermore, CHINA LIT (00772.HK), CHINASOFT INT'L (00354.HK), MEITU (01357.HK) and XD INC (02400.HK) shrank 3.9-4.1%, while WEIMOB INC (02013.HK) and NETEASE MUSIC (09899.HK) descended over 5%. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) tumbled 6.4% and 5.8%, while handset parts stocks SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK) and COWELL (01415.HK) slumped 3.7% and 4.9%.
