In mid-October, JD-SW (09618.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), Ele.me, and other companies were investigated by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) of China on the same day, concerning issues related to food safety and the review of business qualifications by food delivery platforms, Chinese media reported, citing multiple sources.

The employee of a certain surveyed platform revealed that in addition to the three major food delivery platforms, Douyin was also involved in the investigation. Douyin, which has entered the quick commerce industry through "one-hour delivery" since 2022, is now covering categories such as flowers, cakes, and fresh produce.

One of the reasons for this investigation was due to the fact that a user had purchased a cake on a food delivery platform but received a cake that had inconsistent brand, the report quoted another person from an investigated platform explaining.

The user questioned the business qualifications of merchants on the platform and reported the issue to the regulatory authorities. The investigation found that the problematic merchant was present on multiple platforms, and more than one platform had issues with mismatched cake goods.
