Cai Lei, former vice president of JD-SW (09618.HK), was diagnosed in 2019 with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He is now weakened, unable to speak, and experiencing diminished respiratory function. He communicates and works through an eye-tracking device.

In an interview with Chinese media, Cai said that several medical institutions in China are advancing clinical research related to brain-computer interface. If future eye-control technology fails to meet his working needs, he planned to try brain-computer interface.
