<H Shrs>HSI Climbs 109Pts at Open; Autos Swell; XIAOMI-W Dips 1%+

Hong Kong bourse started higher after the Christmas holiday, with the HSI growing 109 points or 0.43% to 25,928; the HSCEI hiking 52 points or 0.59% to 8,967; and the HSTECH gaining 48 points or 0.88% to 5,547. In the tech sector, TENCENT (00700.HK) opened 0.5% higher, and BABA-W (09988.HK) opened 0.8% higher. Lin Bin, co-founder of XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), planned to sell no more than US$2 billion worth of shares of the company in the future. The stock opened 1.4% lower this morning, making it the worst-performing blue chip. JD-SW (09618.HK), BIDU-SW (09888.HK), MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), and NTES-S (09999.HK) opened 0.5-1.3% higher. Semiconductor stocks SMIC (00981.HK) opened 0.6% higher, and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) opened 0.07% higher. China’s Ministry of Finance indicated that it will continue to implement a more proactive fiscal policy next year, expanding fiscal spending and supporting the trade-in of old consumer goods. Automobiles posted sharp gains, with BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) opening 3.5% higher, making it the best-performing blue chip. XPENG-W (09868.HK) opened 5.1% higher, while NIO-SW (09866.HK), LI AUTO-W (02015.HK), and GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) each opened 3.1-3.7% higher.
