Financial Secretary Paul Chan said in his blog that the HSI showed strong performance on the first trading day of 2026, marking the best start since 2013. The Hong Kong government continued to promote stock market reforms by introducing Chapter 18A and Chapter 18C. As of the end of 2025, over 400 new economy companies had been listed in Hong Kong in total, accounting for only about 15% of the total number of listed companies, yet they represent around 30% of the market in terms of market capitalization and turnover.
