US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez during an interview with The Atlantic, stating that if she fails to take the right actions, she is going to pay a very big price, possibly greater than that faced by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who was arrested by the US. Rodriguez was originally the Vice President of Venezuela, and the Venezuelan Supreme Court recently announced her immediate appointment as Acting President.

Separately, in an interview with the New York Post, Trump stated that Venezuelan elections should only be held once the country is stabilized, which should occur after Maduro's arrest. He emphasized that the US should govern Venezuela through the rule of law and that the US should manage Venezuela to leverage its economic advantages, namely its valuable oil and other resources.
