NVIDIA (NVDA.US) H200 chips were recently approved for sale in China by the US but were blocked by Chinese customs, Reuters earlier reported, citing sources. According to latest informed sources, a batch of H200 chips arrived in Hong Kong but could not clear customs to enter mainland China.

NVIDIA was surprised by the move, whereas Chinese government departments did not explain the reasons behind the latest instructions, nor did they clarify whether this is a formal ban or a temporary measure, people with the knowledge of the matter said.
