US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that a framework for a future agreement regarding Greenland was established with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. After negotiations, the punitive tariffs initially set to be imposed on a series of European countries starting February 1 will no longer be applied, Trump said. The news propelled US stocks higher, with the DJIA last surging 755 points or 1.6%; the Nasdaq leaping 328 points or 1.4%; and the S&P 500 hiking 98 points or 1.5%.
