<H Shrs>HSI Opens 165 Pts Higher as BIDU/ AIA Boom; Chip Stocks Rise

Hong Kong stocks opened higher in the morning session. The HSI opened 165 points or 0.6% higher at 26,750. The HSCEI opened 50 points or 0.5% higher at 9,173. The HSTECH opened 48 points or 0.8% higher at 5,795. External memory chip stocks surged. Chip equipment maker ASMPT (00522.HK) elevated 4.9% to $106.8, as it initiated assessment of strategic options for its SMT Solutions Segment, including a divestiture and public listing. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) jumped up 1.6% and 2.1%. KINGDEE INT'L (00268.HK) mounted 3.1% to $14.6 as it expected to swing to a profit of RMB60 -100 million last year, with revenue increasing by approx. 11.1-12.7%. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) ballooned 3.8% to $159.5 after JPM expected its 4Q25 revenue and adjusted profit to improve QoQ, and elevated its target price from $185 to $195. For financials, HSBC HOLDINGS (00005.HK) and HKEX (00388.HK) picked up 0.7% and 0.2%, while AIA (01299.HK) climbed 2.2%. Gold prices sagged from highs, denting CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK) and ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) by 2% and 2.2%.
