Scott Bessent: Carney Retracts Davos Remarks in Call with Trump

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has retracted some of his inappropriate remarks made last week in Davos during a phone call with US President Donald Trump on Monday (26th), US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said.

In his Davos speech, Carney claimed that, the rules-based international order had ended, and urged middle powers to act together, accusing great powers of using economic coercion to achieve their goals.

Following Carney's speech, Trump withdrew the invitation for Canada to join a Board of Peace, and threatened to impose a 100% tariff on Canadian goods if Canada reaches a trade agreement with China.
