<H Shrs>HSI Closes Up 138 Pts in Half-day Session as CMOC/ LAOPU GOLD Swell 6% After Joining Blue Chips; HSI Gains 32% in Total in Yr of Snake

Hong Kong stocks prospered in a half-day session today (16th). The HSI closed up 138 points or 0.5% at 26,705. The HSCEI ticked up 37 points or 0.4% to close at 9,070. The HSTECH added 7 points or 0.1% to close at 5,367. Total half-day turnover of the market amounted to $84.997 billion.

Looking back at the Year of the Snake, the HSI gained 6,480 points or 32% in total, delivering its strongest performance ever during a Year of the Snake. Reflecting on the past four Years of the Snake, the HSI had declined each time.

In the HSI quarterly review, CATL (03750.HK), CMOC (03993.HK) and LAOPU GOLD (06181.HK) were added to the HSI family, while ZHONGSHENG HLDG (00881.HK) was removed. CATL elevated 2.7%, while CMOC and LAOPU GOLD swelled 6.4% and 6.6%.

ZHONGSHENG HLDG ebbed 0.2%. BEKE-W (02423.HK) and HORIZONROBOT-W (09660.HK), which were added to the HSCEI, shed 2.1% and climbed 0.9% each at close. CHINA RES BEER (00291.HK) and MENGNIU DAIRY (02319.HK), which were removed from the HSCEI but retained their HSI constituent status, lost 0.6% and inched up 0.5%.

SANDS CHINA LTD (01928.HK) mounted 2.7% after its 2025 adjusted property EBITDA declined by 0.7%. ANTA SPORTS (02020.HK) received written shareholder approval for its acquisition of approx. 29% of PUMA's equity, denting its share price by 0.2%.

The US Department of War reportedly withdrew the “List of Chinese Military Companies” for the second time. BABA-W (09988.HK) faded 0.5%, while BIDU-SW (09888.HK) ballooned 1.3%. BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) and NIO-SW (09866.HK) ascended 0.1% and 0.3%.
