Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the US- Israel war against Iran has triggered a global energy crisis, warning that oil production reliant on the Strait of Hormuz may soon cease. Russia, being the world's second-largest oil exporter and having the largest natural gas reserves, is prepared to resume long-term cooperation if European customers are willing.

Putin noted that Russia has repeatedly warned that destabilizing the Middle East could lead to an energy crisis with severe impacts on the global economy, and this has already happened. Oil production dependent on the Strait of Hormuz could come to a full stop next month, with current output already declining.
