Yesterday (16th), BABA-W (09988.HK) announced the establishment of the Alibaba Token Hub (ATH) business unit, focusing on the creation, delivery, and application of tokens, CICC said in a research report. Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu will directly oversee the ATH unit. The broker believed that Alibaba's organizational structure, which integrates research, products, and applications, is well-positioned, including accelerating the commercialization process from model to application; and further consolidating the core position of AI-related businesses within Alibaba. However, the broker assumed that the company needs to balance between cutting-edge research on foundational models and commercialization goals at the product end. The broker believed that maintaining Qwen's leading position in key areas is strategically paramount for Alibaba. CICC assigned an Outperform rating on BABA-W with a target price of HKD197.
