The HSI opened 474 points or 1.8% lower at 25,550. The HSCEI dropped 143 points or 1.6% to 8,692. The HSTECH fell 107 points or 2.1% to 5,000. TENCENT (00700.HK) opened down 4.1% after indicating that it may scale back share buyback efforts due to AI investments. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) rallied 2.6% on the launch of its flagship base model Xiaomi MiMo-V2-Pro. Among other tech stocks, BABA-W (09988.HK), NTES-S (09999.HK), and KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) slipped 3-3.6% at open. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) and JD-SW (09618.HK) shed 2% and 2.5%. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) slid 1.1%. BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) plunged 4.4%. TME-SW (01698.HK) dived 9.2%. AI stocks KNOWLEDGE ATLAS (02513.HK) and MINIMAX-WP (00100.HK) opened declining 4.4% and 5%. Car makers BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) and LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) edged down 1%. GEELY AUTO (00175.HK) faded 2%. NIO-SW (09866.HK) and XPENG-W (09868.HK) retreated 2.8%. AIA (01299.HK) opened 3.6% lower, as the 17% increase in the 2025 value of new business on an actual exchange rate basis missed forecasts.
