Around 15 minutes before US President Donald Trump dropped a social media post about productive talks with Iran that sent crude oil prices tumbling, about 6,200 Brent and New York oil contracts were traded, involving a nominal value estimated at USD580 million, according to a report from The Financial Times.

Trump's post was published at 7:04 am Eastern Time yesterday (23rd), and Brent and New York oil contracts spiked 27 seconds before 6:50 am that day. The S&P 500 futures also rose immediately after the transactions, with a marked increase in trading volume.
